HOW BOTOX® WORKS?
Wrinkles often appear in our forehead and around our eyes when we frown, squint or raise eyebrows. These facial lines appear because our muscles contract to form different facial expressions. Over time, these expression lines begin to linger a little longer or become a little deeper, even when the face is at rest.
BOTOX® treatments work by relaxing facial muscles that cause wrinkles and lines when you smile or frown. It works beneath the skin where product has been injected and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults ’ to help them look visibly smoother.
The muscles responsible for other aspects of your facial expression stay active.
If you have no further treatments, the muscles will gradually return to normal and lines gradually go back to how they looked before treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM TREATMENT?
Upon determining your treatment goals, your practitioner will assess your medical history, and perform a facial analysis to assess whether you are suitable for treatment and determine the appropriate treatment areas for you. The treatment procedure is relatively quick with no patient preparation needed prior to treatment.
BOTOX’ is a technique-sensitive treatment. As it is a prescription-only medicine, BOTOX’ is only available from qualified medical professionals. A small amount of BOTOX’ is injected into specific facial muscles with a very fine needle. Typically, any pain is minimal and brief, and usually anaesthetic is not required.
You may begin to notice a visible smoothing of frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines within 24 to 48 hours, with full results in 14 days, lasting up to 4 months for moderate to severe frown lines.
It’s important to follow any post-treatment instructions your practitioner gives you.
BOTOX® is not a permanent treatment. If you discontinue treatment, the moderate to severe frown lines, crow's feet and forehead lines will gradually return. Regular BOTOX’ treatments may help effects to last longer and may help reduce static wrinkles.
