CONSULTATION
Once you find a clinic that’s suitable for you, it is important to take the time to discuss the goals that you would like to achieve on your BOTOX’ journey with your treating healthcare practitioner. In addition to discussing your medical history, and what you can expect from the treatment, the practitioner will also perform a facial assessment to determine if you are suitable for treatment and the appropriate treatment areas for you. The evaluation of your skin and your facial muscle movement is important, as your unique anatomy helps to determine your treatment plan.
Your BOTOX’ journey can go at whatever pace you feel comfortable with, however based on your facial evaluation, the practitioner will advise whether your treatment is able to take place on that same day.
TREATMENT
The treatment itself is relatively quick to complete and requires minimal downtime. So, you can return to your daily routine straight away.
Typically, any pain is minimal and brief, and no anaesthetic is required. During the treatment, some patients receiving BOTOX’ report the injections feel like a pinch. Your practitioner may use ice to numb the treatment area.
You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines. Full results are visible in 7-14 days.
THE RESULT
You’ll look like yourself but with noticeably smoother-looking lines.
A follow-up 2-week review after your first treatment is advisable. Your practitioner will review and assess your results and discuss with you the outcome of your treatment.
It is important to note that BOTOX’ is not a permanent treatment. If you discontinue treatment, the moderate to severe crow’s feet, forehead and frown lines will gradually return.
To maintain the benefits of your treatment, it is recommended you have a re-treatment in 4 months. Regular BOTOX’ treatments may help effects to last longer and may help to reduce static wrinkles.
Since the BOTOX’ treatment effect is temporary, you’ll need to be consistent with scheduling evaluations for your next treatment. Your practitioner will provide advice on aftercare and your follow-up treatment plan.
